Win or lose, practice the same for the Pack

The Packers had to play at Denver on Monday night, return home, practice, then go to Kansas City. That's a short turnaround, which, surprisingly, hasn't been as difficult as you'd think in the NFL. Teams that played on Monday night and had to go on the road for their next game are 9-8 since 2000.

Poppinga said the Packers take advantage of their practice time whether it's a regular, or short, week.

"I would say if you came out to watch our practice — after a loss, after a win — you couldn't tell if we won or lost based on the way we practice," he said. "We're obviously disappointed when we lose and excited when we win.

"But the character of the team is we're going to work and never give up. That's paying off for us as far as winning."

SBC DSL--Promises Made, Promises Kept?

Whatever happened to keeping the promises both implied and real that you make to a customer? In nearly every industry you look nowadays, it seems customer service is getting more miserable. Why is the onus now on the customer to make sure you're getting exactly what you pay for?

Consider my recent experience upgrading my DSL service: SBC is trying to lure people away from cable's broadband, and to keep its own DSL customers, with hot pricing deals of $15 for basic service and $25 for expanded. I recently discovered that since I signed up for DSL years ago, I was getting speeds worse in some cases that what'd you get for basic service.

A quick call to SBC was meant to change that. I signed up for DSL pro, which offers 1.5 to 3 Mbps downstream and 384 to 584 Kbps upstream.

Prospect replaces Kinsey on Grizzlies

Tarence Kinsey's improbable yet sometimes awe-inspiring run with the Grizzlies ended Tuesday when the team waived him and then rolled the dice on a scoring machine from the NBA Development League.

Griz general manager Chris Wallace replaced Kinsey with Jeremy Richardson of the NBDL's Fort Wayne Mad Ants. A 6-7 guard/forward from Delta State, Richardson led the D-league with 28.5 points per game.
