Kern Valley Sun annual gardening contest This year marked the second year the Kern Valley Sun has held its annual gardening contest. Gardeners of all types were invited to show off the hard work they put into their yards each year. Entries ranged from vegetable gardens, to flower gardens, to orchards and varying combinations of all three. Darice Repp, of Weldon, took top honors. Frank Hernandez of Lake Isabella earned honorable mention this year for best vegetable garden.
