Beacon residents eye federal funds
Should the flood victims on Beacon Drive get their wish and have the federal government buy their damaged homes, what could be done with the area?
�Beacon Park: I like the ring of that,� said Linda Duval, one of the 10 homeowners applying for state and federal funding through the town.
But Town Manager Keith Hickey said officials �haven�t put too much thought into it� and what the site could become in the future if the application were to be approved by Washington.
�Ultimately, it could be turned over to the town if that is what they wanted to have happen,� said Hickey. �There has been some talk of the possibility of a park or something along those lines. It might be a fantastic spot because it is a beautiful area, but obviously we wouldn�t want to put too many structures down there.
